- Advanced Echocardiography Fellowship
Description
The Advanced Echocardiography Fellowship offers training in all aspects of echocardiography in a high-volume laboratory at one of the nation’s leading cardiology centers. Our structural heart and valvular heart disease team offer patients access to the industry’s most advanced treatments. Advanced echocardiography fellows will satisfy the requirements of level III training through performance and interpretation of transesophageal, transthoracic, and stress echocardiography. Fellows will also develop skill in 3D imaging and peri-procedural echocardiography.
Over the course of the one-year training program, advanced echocardiography fellows will gain expertise in imaging a wide variety of cardiovascular diseases, including cardiomyopathies, heart failure requiring advanced therapies (LVAD and other LV support devices), cardiac transplantation, congenital heart disease, complex cardiothoracic surgical cases, and valvular heart disease. Advanced fellows will also have exposure to intra-procedural echocardiography as they rotate through the cardiac cath lab and work with the structural imaging team. Echocardiography guided interventions include all the aspects of the field: left atrial appendage closure, transcutaneous valvular implantation on any of the four valves (in native, valve-in-valve, mitral annulus calcification), transcatheter edge-to-edge repair of mitral or tricuspid valves (including laceration of the anterior mitral leaflet to prevent outflow obstruction (LAMPOON), percutaneous paravalvular leak closure, mitral valve balloon valvuloplasty, and more. In addition to clinical training, there is a tremendous opportunity for learning and mentorship from distinguished faculty through attending-led case discussions, journal clubs, and echo conferences.
