IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, part of Indiana's leading healthcare network, invites a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as an Oncology Nurse Navigator specializing in Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology.
Schedule: Onsite - Monday through Friday, Day shift; no holidays, weekends, nights or call required!

Position Summary:
As an Oncology Nurse Navigator for GI Oncology, you will be an essential part of an exciting new role to support the implementation of coordinated cancer continuum care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. Your role will be responsible for all phases of the GI cancer continuum and ideally you will have program planning and oncology experience to be an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the referral and treatment continuum for GI oncology patients
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) proficiently to coordinate patient care
- Use critical thinking and strong organizational skills to verify complete clinical information to support care planning
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure access to necessary services at appropriate times and locations
- Advocate for patient needs and preferences while balancing clinical and financial considerations
- Strong problem-solving skillset to make appropriate decisions regarding patient needs
Qualifications:
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
- Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 3-5 years of experience preferred.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Specialty certifications may be required per unit/department specialty in accordance with the department provision of care.
- Requires knowledge of personal computers using various types of word processing and database software.
- Requires clinical work experience, medical terminology.
- Requires understanding of medical record requirements, regulations and policies.
