Operating Room Nurse
Join our One Great Team! UNC Health, located in North Carolina, has opportunities for RN Clinical Nurse II and RN Patient Services Manager III in the Main Operating Room and Children’s Operating Room at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC.
Schedule: These positions work 36 hours/week (3 12-hour shifts) unless otherwise noted.
RN II - Children’s Operating Room: Variable shift (call hours required) and Night shift (Monday-Friday with holiday requirements (no call requirements)).
RN II - Main Operating Room: Day shift (4 10-hour shifts Monday-Friday with call and holiday requirements). Night shift with holiday requirements (no call requirements)
RN IV Team Lead - Cardiovascular Operating Room: Monday-Friday variable hours, 40 hours/week (call required).
Salary: RN II $33.88 - $47.91 per hour (Hiring Range). RN IV Team Lead $42.58 - $64.89 per hour (Hiring Range)
Incentives: Select full-time positions are eligible for incentives including up to $10,000 sign-on bonus and $20,000 commitment incentive or up to $25,000 tuition loan assistance (except Children’s OR) as well as up to $10,000 relocation assistance.
About the Children’s OR:
UNC Medical Center Children's OR is a unit with six operating suites, averaging 20-25 cases per day. Our Children's OR staff are able to work in multiple service areas, including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Oral Maxillofacial, Burns, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Plastics, Urology, and Dental Surgery. The OR uses new, innovative state of the art equipment that reinforces continuous learning opportunities. The Children's OR staff are collegial and supportive of each other. Surgeons, OR staff, Anesthesia team and all ancillary services work together daily to provide high quality care for the most acute pediatric patients in North Carolina.
About the Main OR:
UNC Chapel Hill Main Campus is a level one trauma academic facility and includes 26 operating rooms. It is a very fast-paced environment offering multiple service lines. We are proud to be on the cutting edge of technology for many surgical procedures. Our specialty procedures include cochlear implants, organ transplants, bariatric procedures, open-heart surgeries, ECMO, endovascular surgeries, flap reconstructive surgeries, stereotactic and image guided neuro surgeries, da Vinci® robotic surgeries, and Hyperthermia Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC). In PreOp/PACU we prepare adult patients for surgery and/or recover post procedure for multiple procedural areas to include Cystoscopy, VIR, Radiation Oncology, EP/Cath lab and MRI (these patients may receive general anesthesia).
UNC Health's new North Carolina Surgical Hospital boasts state-of-the-art operating rooms and patient-centric healing environments. This space connects to our existing five-building UNC Medical Center campus and feature the following:
Seven stories with 375,000 square feet
26 ORS, including hybrid rooms accommodating imaging technology
59 pre- and post-operative rooms
80 ICU beds and 15 surgical observation beds
RN II Requirements: At least 1 year of OR RN experience required
Education Requirements:
Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
Professional Experience Requirements:
One (1) year of nursing experience.
Patient Services Manager III Requirements:
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
For positions at Magnet Hospitals, professional certification (ANCC Magnet approved) relevant to Management, Leadership or Clinical Area is required within the probationary period of employment.
BLS required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
Three (3) years of professional nursing in tertiary care and one (1) year of management experience in specialty area.
