Description
Description: \n- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) \n
- Administer anesthesia care in accordance with state licensure, federal regulations, and VA policies. \n
- Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations, formulate anesthesia plans, administer anesthesia (general, regional, monitored anesthesia care), and manage patient recovery. \n
- Ensure compliance with the Joint Commission standards and applicable professional guidelines. \n
- Deliver services in multiple departments, including but not limited to: general surgery, cardiac surgery, orthopedics, gastrointestinal procedures, urology, and outpatient surgical units. \n
- Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions and clinical rounds when required. \n
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the VA's electronic health record system (CPRS/Vista). \n
- Adhere to MEDVAMC scheduling policies, including rotating shifts, night/weekend coverage, and holiday assignments, as required.

Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Active unencumbered RN Risk and Compliance Manager Arizona state license
- Graduate from a fully accredited Registered Nurse program
- One year of work experience as RN Risk and Compliance Manager
- One year of EMR experience
- Master's degree preferred (e.g., MSN, MPH, MHA).
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare risk management, compliance, or quality improvement.
- Experience in a hospital, ambulatory care, or long-term care setting preferred.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS)
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)

- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
- Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
- Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
- Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
- A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
- Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with risk management and compliance software.
- Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional on-site audits or investigations.
- May involve long hours during audits or incident response.

Responsibilities:
Risk Management
- Identify and assess potential clinical and operational risks.
- Investigate and document incidents, near misses, and patient complaints.
- Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA).
- Collaborate with legal counsel on liability and malpractice claims.
- Maintain incident reporting systems and analyze trends to develop risk mitigation strategies.
Compliance
- Monitor and interpret changes in federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, HIPAA, OSHA).
- Lead compliance training programs for staff.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections or investigations.
Quality and Safety
- Support accreditation efforts (e.g., The Joint Commission).
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to improve care outcomes.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain thorough documentation of all compliance activities.
- Prepare and present regular risk and compliance reports to leadership
